🎪 What’s On in North Devon – Late Summer into Autumn

There’s so much happening locally—whether you’re after food, music, crafts or stargazing, North Devon has something for everyone:

  • 12–21 September
    A vibrant literary celebration by the sea, featuring authors like Martin Clunes, Fern Britton, and Michael Morpurgo. Expect talks, workshops, fringe events, and even gin tastings.

  • 8 September
    Held in Clovelly’s historic harbour, this seafood celebration includes live music, cookery demos, craft stalls, and family-friendly fun—all in support of the National Lobster Hatchery.

  • Daily through September
    Lessons for all ages and skill levels, run by qualified instructors right on Woolacombe Beach. A great way to dip your toes into surfing or improve your technique.

  • 20 September

        A joyful community parade with floats, music, and fireworks. The town comes          alive with a Carnival Village, food stalls, and family activities.

  • 20–21 September
    A celebration of contemporary and heritage crafts with over 120 makers, live music, workshops, and demos—from pottery and macramé to blacksmithing and cyanotype art.

  • 27 September, Ilfracombe
    A cinematic dive into the wonders of the sea, featuring short films on surfing, freediving, marine life, and ocean conservation.

  • 4–5 October, RHS Rosemoor
    Apple-themed fun with pressing demos, rare varieties, cider tastings, and over 35 local traders. Includes crafts, music, and shire horse logging.

  • 17 October – 2 November
    Stargazing walks, planetarium sessions, astronomy suppers, and night hikes across Exmoor’s International Dark Sky Reserve.

  • 18 October, RHS Rosemoor
    An afternoon of classical music in the Garden Room, featuring the Ibert Flute Concerto with soloist Michael Cox. Garden entry included.

  • 19 October, Queen’s Theatre Barnstaple
    A glamorous tribute to 007’s iconic music, hosted by Caroline Bliss (Miss Moneypenny), with live orchestral performances of Bond classics.

  • 15 October, Quince Honey Farm
    Learn traditional weaving techniques using locally grown willow. Includes materials, refreshments, and a finished basket to take home.
